Opus 4. 8 was one-shotting simpler bugs just a few days ago for me. The last couple of days however its been like using a slot machine, and I can no longer get it to output clean code that is less-complicated and actually resolves issues.

I'll keep this post short and sweet, we have seen several steps in the evolution of LLM (large language model) usage. 1. Chat 2.

Writing is thinking. I don't think this is an especially disputed claim. Every day we on HN (along with every other social medium) are treated to largely generated think pieces from presumptive thought leaders.

Given the increased use of AI, my experience is that teammates are moving so fast churning out so many changes that it is nigh impossible to review it all. I can't even keep up with the code being generated by my own use of LLMs at times. Granted, I can slow it all down.

I've been setting up Multi-AZ for companies throughout my life. There were a handful of times that us-east-1 went down and I never remember Multi-AZ saving us from those downtimes. Has it ever worked for any of you?

AWS announced S3 Tables earlier this year, and the integration with Iceberg is clearly the direction for AI/analytics data stacks. But the native S3 Tables implementation is locked inside AWS. For those of us running self-hosted or multi-cloud, what are the current options?

Hello HN, I use AI to code, not all the time but it gets work done. Unless you have been under a rock for the last few years I bet you do to some degree as well. I'm sure we've crossed that line where we won't go back to unaided coding, so..

I'm currently considering creating a database to practice my Zig skills. And since I'm building it, I want to create something that can help people or solve problems that everyone has. I know you guys don't care.

I'm a puzzle game enthusiast and have started building small web tools. I'm curious how experienced developers here approach teaching algorithmic thinking. What resources or methods do you recommend?

I asked 4 working engineers this exact question on my podcast: a Google Developer Advocate (Stockholm), a Senior Software Engineer/consultant (Paris), an NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute Instructor (Morocco), and an Infrastructure Engineer at IBM (Dublin). Here's what they actually said: - The Sen...

What is your prediction for the SpaceX IPO? I’m not asking for flame bait or arguing, just your predictions based on some thoughtful reasoning. There’s a lot of noise and hype and complaints but this is specifically for your prediction.

After ten years I’m working on a redesign of my personal tech blog. I want to look at some other blogs with good modern design. Of course searching for ‘well designed blogs’ or ‘webdesign 2026’ brings up endless marketing listicles.
